Website Accessibility
The above quote is how the Royal National Institute for the Blind defines website accessibility. The basic ethos behind this statement is that websites should be designed for the enjoyment and use of all people, whether they have a disability or not. Whilst we have referred to the RNIB, the difficulties of using the web are not restricted to those with a visual disability. Many people have cognitive or physical disabilities that can have just a profound effect on their ability to access a web page as visual impairment. By understanding the difficulties encountered by people from all disability groups, Carlian Web Services are able to apply design techniques that will greatly assist these user groups to access your website. We have recently spent a lot of time familiarising themselves with the standards required to make our websites accessible to all. In addition to this, we are familiar with the UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and how this law is likely to affect you and your business in relation to website accessibility. All websites designed by us after the 1st May 2004 will meet the minimum required accessibility standards and will be fully compliant with UK Government legislation in relation to website accessibility. We are also currently working with our existing clients to bring their websites up to these standards. For more information about accessibility issues, please use the links to the left of this page. More detailed information can be found by visiting some of the websites in the accessibility section of our Links page. If you are still unsure about anything, please do not hesitate to contact us. |
